Controversial cleric's son in court on attempted burglary charges

The son of the controversial Muslim cleric, Abu Hamza al-Masri, has been ordered to serve 120 hours of community service after admitting stealing a laptop from a Kensington house.

 

18-year-old Yasser Mostafa Kamel, who lives with Abu Hamza’s second wife in Shepherd’s Bush, initially denied involvement in the theft of the £1,000 computer.

 

But when forensic evidence proved his presence at the crime scene, he was told he could face a jail sentence.

 

The teenager, who is one of Abu Hamza’s seven children, was arrested last month with a second youth, after the Kensington homeowner caught somebody reaching through his kitchen window to take the laptop.

 

However, police confirmed that Kamel did not break into the house.

 

Yasser Mostafa Kamel is the son of the hook-handed cleric, Abu Hamza, who used to preach at Finsbury Park Mosque. 

 

Abu Hamza is currently serving a seven-year jail sentence in Belmarsh prison after being found guilty of inciting murder and race hate.

 

The US authorities are seeking his extradition, as he is wanted in America on terrorism-related charges.
