HAFAD - Hammersmith and Fulham Action on Disability - Youth Service are presenting a free family fun day of music and special performances in Hammersmith's Lyric Square on Saturday September 8, a day ahead of the Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony.

As well as music and drama, one of the highlights of the day will be a parade led by a giant Paralympian puppet, accompanied by an Olympic torch bearing escort.

Here's the full schedule:

11.30am – Kompleet Music HAFAD project

Two-year Youth Music funded project for young disabled people across H&F to engage in music (including performing, learning and training opportunities) leading to accreditation, music-making, improvement in musical and technical skills.

12noon – St Michaels & All Angels Steel Band

Founded in 1996 as part of the St Michaels Music project, the steel band through its can do approach which is underpinned by discipline and respect helps youngsters raise their self- esteem and develop leadership, peer education and teamwork.

12.15pm – Parade of the giant Paralympian Puppet with Torch Bearing escort

With support from Dr Edward and Bishop King's Fulham Charity, and designed and created by young disabled people in the summer holiday programme. The puppet will be led by James Coke with the Olympic torch.   

12.30pm – Ted Emmett (Trumpet) jazz singer, trumpeter + composer.

Teds played for many outfits and toured with many more including Dexys Midnight Runners, Feargal Sharkey and the Atlantic Soul Machine, to name but a few and has appeared on TOTP, The Old Grey Whistle Test and Jools Holland. He is an inspirational teacher and founder of the London underground busking scheme.

1pm – Drama production by the HAFAD Players and Creative Minds (Theme - bullying and disability hate crime)

UK Youth/Starbucks and HAFAD have produced a collaborative drama exploring themes around disability hate crime. Looking at it from the perspective of a young disabled persons the production will address bullying, particularly cyber or virtual bullying, and how it impacts later on in adult life!

1.15pm – All for One - Shepherd's Bush based Funk, soul, fusion group

All for one have been pleasing crowds for 18 months and the lead vocalist, Richard Dyer, has a strong working link with local young disabled people having worked at Jack Tizard School and Hafad for the past 6years. All for One’s music is original classy, full of energy and good vibes.

1.45pm Anna & Gilly

Born with Cerebral Palsy, Anna Taylor is an international recording artist and singer-songwriter often likened to Canadian vocalist Sarah McLachlan. Her debut album Already Here, both deeply personal and uplifting, has been featured on BBC Sussex Radio and became CD of the month in Soul and Spirit magazine. Anna will be accompanied by Pianist Gilly Spencer – the human ipod, who has over 10000 tunes in her repertoire

2pm – Rosanella

Rosanella is a London Italian folk rock artist. Her songs resonate with poetic imagery as she sings the 21 century blues!

2.20pm – Hazel Jane MacLaurin

Hazel Jane MacLaurin is a singer-songwriter who plays piano and guitar. She writes dreamy articulate folkpop calling to mind Bill Callahan, Ani diFranco and Tori Amos.

2.35pm – Owlcatcher

New 4 piece art rock band Owlcatcher are ready to take on the world with their dark, cinematic soundscapes

The compere for the day will be the ever dependable Michael Hill, Coca-Cola’s European Travel Manager.
