Gunnersbury Park Café Edges Closer to Reopening

Council confirms necessary permissions have been granted

The Gunnersbury Park Cafe is ready to go when approvals come through

November 14, 2025

There is fresh hope that the café at Gunnersbury Park that was destroyed by fire will reopen before the end of the year after Hounslow Council says it has granted the outstanding permissions that had been delaying the launch.

The café space, intended to be run by Pure in the Park, has been through a lengthy recovery and rebuild process since the blaze which took place on the 29 May 2020.

It was originally expected to reopen in the spring after the venue was granted a licence this May. While the operator’s website still gives an Autumn 2025 launch window, we have been unable to reach the company to confirm an opening date.

Building control and safety checks have reportedly been the major cause of delay. In August, the Gunnersbury Park website explained that the final stages could not be completed until the required assessments and approvals were finished by the local authority, stressing that the checks were essential to ensure the café is safe.

The delay has been a disappointment for park regulars including dog walkers from whom the café was a meeting point.
