According to a report in Vanity Fair, Leonardo DiCaprio plays Pickleball nearly every day and he is not the only celebrity to be a fan of the combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis.

Larry David, Melinda Gates, Jamie Foxx and the Kardashians are also said to be keen players.

Now, you no longer need to fly to the west coast of America to try it out because the game is being introduced at the Sports Hub in Gunnersbury Park on Tuesday 2 November from 12.30 to 2.30pm.

If it becomes popular it may be introduced on a more permanent basis. It is played indoors with a light ball and paddles across a net, and is being taken up rapidly in the UK, as well as in New Zealand, Australia and the USA.

The session is free and called ‘Senior Tuesdays’, and as an extra inducement you will be offered free tea, coffee and chocolate biscuits.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
