Family Fun at Gunnersbury Park and Museum this Summer

A packed programme of activities and special events to see you through the holiday

Painting your local area

This summer, Gunnersbury Park and Museum has a packed programme of activities and special events that are sure to entertain children and families throughout the school holidays.

Whatever the weather, Gunnersbury’s FREE museum brings history to life with lots for little ones to do, including games, dressing up and objects to play with. In the grand reception rooms, you are invited to imagine what life would have been like for the wealthy Rothschild family who lived at Gunnersbury. Then, peek behind the scenes in the butler’s pantry and the historic kitchens to find out how this great household was run.

You can also explore what life in west London was like for families in the past. In the Toys and Games Gallery you can play with Victorian toys and even dress up as a Victorian child. If the whole family fancies dressing up, then make your way to the Fashion Gallery upstairs where there is a variety of clothes from the past to try on.

Meanwhile, outside in the acres of parkland, let the children lead the way on the FREE family trail. Arm them with their very own map (collected from the Museum reception) and you’ll embark on an outdoor adventure complete with lots of activities along the way. Plus, there’s perfect picnic spots, a large playground and plenty of space to run around.

During August, there’s even more FREE fun to be had thanks to special ‘Make and Take: Summer Fun!’ creative workshops every Tuesday (10:30 – 15:30) and traditional lawn games, such as croquet, available to try every Thursday (11:00 – 13:00). There is also a series of themed workshops designed to cater for all interests (charges apply). Children could try botanical drawing with an artist from Kew Gardens, make a sculpture inspired by nature or head out on a minibeast safari.
