The North Circular Road (A406) near Chiswick Roundabout is to be reduced to one lane each way this weekend (6-7 May) and significant traffic delays are expected in the area.

The lane closures are required as part of continuing work to demolish and replace Power Road Bridge, which carries the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue over the railway lines near the B&Q store.

From 8am on Saturday 6 May until 6pm on Sunday 7 May the road will be temporarily reduced to one lane in each direction. This change is needed for work to widen the eastern carriageway ahead of the planned demolition of the western side of the bridge later in the year. Transport for London (TfL) do not expect the works to be noisy, although they warn the area may be busier than normal.

Once the weekend works are complete, the current traffic management arrangements will be reinstated so that there will again be two lanes southbound and one lane northbound.

Vehicle access to the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue bridge will still be possible from both directions during the works. A temporary 30mph speed restriction is in place between the Chiswick Roundabout and Park Place Drive.

The A406 Gunnersbury Avenue will be reduced to three lanes (one northbound and two southbound) during the demolition and construction phases, although TfL will need to take this down to one lane in each direction at times to finish some construction activities. They say that the public will be informed whenever this is necessary.
