The next phase of carriageway works gets underway in April
Pedestrian and cyclist access changes are planned from later this month as part of the Power Road bridge works by Transport for London.
Power Road Bridge, carries the A406 North Circular Road (Gunnersbury Avenue) over the railway lines in the area.
In its latest update
on the works, TfL says that
he service bridge will be converted into a temporary footbridge from late
March. This will replace the current pedestrian and cycle diversion and
will remain open for pedestrians until work is complete.
Power Road Bridge prior to installation
The temporary footbridge will be too narrow for both pedestrians and cyclists
to share, so cyclists will need to dismount and walk through the temporary
bridge section.
Piling works for the new bridge foundations are now complete. The foundations
will support the abutments on which the new bridge will sit.
Work is now continuing to build the two abutments. Some of these works
may be noisy however we will install acoustic barriers to help reduce
noise levels. These works will be complete between 08.00 and 17:00 , Monday
to Friday.
TfL has also completed the diversion of gas, water, electricity and telecommunications
pipes and cables from below the footways of the current bridge, into the
new service bridge at the end of January. This will reduce the need to
close traffic lanes on the road bridge for future maintenance of utility
pipes or cables.

TfL plan to start the next phase of works on the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue
carriageway from April. This will involve moving traffic over towards
the eastern side of the bridge, although the current lane closure will
remain in place and there will continue to be two lanes southbound and
one lane northbound.
