Thousands of homes across west London were left without water or low water pressure this morning (31 January) after another water main burst in Shepherd’s Bush. Apart from the local area, the water supply is being affected in Chiswick, Acton and Hammersmith.

Goldhawk Road has been hit by serious flooding with parts of it totally submerged and it has been closed in both directions with no indication as to when it will reopen.

Thames Water say their engineers are on site and will be giving updates throughout the day although at this stage they say ‘it will take some time to get fixed.’ They are describing it as a difficult repair.

Their web site states, " We're sorry for customers without water or having low pressure this morning. There is a mains burst in Goldhawk Road W12. This may affect a large area with pressure issues including W3, W4, W6 and W12. We are on site now and will post updates on progress throughout the day. Apologies for the disruption this morning."

Goldhawk Road is closed between St Stephen's Avenue and Lime Grove. This is also affecting Hammersmith Grove in both directions between Goldhawk Road and Astrop Terrace.

Last Friday night (26 January) there was a similar incident when a main burst near Ravenscourt Park on King Street in Hammersmith. The two bursts are around a mile apart.

Thames Water was also forced to request the closure of the North Circular Road between Chiswick Roundabout and Gunnersbury Lane over the weekend after they detected a leak in a pipe at that location.
