The blaze in believed to be in a field where tyres are stored. There are no reports of any injuries due to the fire and London Fire Brigade are in attendance with eight fire engines and around 40 firefighters.

Station Manager Mark Ripley who is at the scene said, "Our crews are working really hard to bring this fire under control. No one in the area has been evacuated but because the fire has generated a lot of smoke, we are advising residents to keep doors and windows closed as a precuation."

The Brigade's 999 control officers have taken around 90 calls to the fire which, because of the smoke, is visible across large parts of London. The massive smoke plume has been spotted as far away as Shepherd's Bush.

The Brigade was called at 1559. Firefighters from Heathrow, Heston, Southall and Kingston fire stations are at the scene. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

Despite the proximinity to Heathrow flights are not yet being diverted according to the latest information.
