Footballer's Ex-wife Arrested in Murder Enquiry

Jane Shea's Putney flat raided after dead woman found in her car

Police are holding the ex-wife of former Arsenal star Tony Adams on suspicion of murder. Jane Shea, aged 38, was stopped by police on De Morgan Road in Fulham driving her black BMW along with a male friend.

When police looked in the rear seat they found a young woman lying there. An initial examination suggested she may have died from a drug overdose. The two occupants of the car were arrested on suspicion of murder and Jane Shea's flat in Putney was raided by the police.

Former England captain, Tony Adams, is currently looking after the two children he had with his ex-wife. They separated in 1997 due to his alcoholism and her addiction to cocaine. Mr Adams has since given up drinking and in a confessional auto-biography he detailed the damage that his excessive consumption of alcohol did to his life. He is currently managed of Division Two team Wycombe Wanderers and ironically is living with a woman who is a member of the family which owns the Teacher's whisky brand.

It has been reported that police had raided Jane Shea's Putney flat on previous occasions and that she could be a difficult neighbour

Police said today the two occupants of the car  were still being held in custody in connection with the incident. They are believed to have known the deceased woman. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Inquiries into the incident continue. We believe we know the identity of the deceased, but we are awaiting formal identification. A post mortem examination will follow."
