Disappointment over 'lenient' sentence for Mark Bowden
A Putney man has been sentenced to one year in prison and ten years on the sex offenders' register after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 78 year old woman in Chiswick.
Mark Bowden was found guilty at Isleworth Crown Court of the assault which took place around late July or early August of last year. DNA evidence found at the scene of the crime led to his arrest.
His victim was so traumatised by the attack she did not report it for several weeks. She still suffers from panic attacks as a result of the incident. Bowden pleaded not guilty to the offence forcing his victim to give evidence against him in court.
Friends of the victim have expressed disappointment with the length of the sentence.
