Family issues appeal for witnesses to tragic incident in Ealing
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the death of 27-year-old Chiswick man Nicolas Padget.
An incident, believed to have began inside O'Neill's pub in Ealing Broadway on Saturday 1 July 2006 around 1.20am, resulted in Mr Padget being taken to Ealing hospital where he later died of serious head injuries.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the pub prior to the incident at closing time on Saturday morning (1.00am) who could have information about what led to the disturbance.
DS Steve Murphy of the Specialist Crime Directorate said "If you were in O'Neill's finishing off your last drink before closing time and going home you may hold vital information for this enquiry. I would urge you to call the Incident Room and speak to us in confidence."
Nick's father, Patrick Padget, has made an appeal on a number of the forums to anyone who may have seen anything to come forward.
He said "Nick has lived in Chiswick all his life and went to Latymer Upper School before studying Fine Art and completing an MA in Contemporary Art at The Sotheby's Institute in 2002.
"Since 2003 Nick worked for a marketing and communications agency in Chiswick as a project manager. He was planning to develop a new Internet business dealing in limited fine art prints.
"Nick was passionate about life and people and loved to travel. He leaves behind a devastated family and many traumatised friends and colleagues who can make no sense of this tragedy. Nick was a truly talented and wonderful individual whose life lit up the world he lived in."
Anyone with information or who was in O'Neill's pub on Friday night / Saturday morning and / or who witnessed a disturbance is asked to call the Incident Room on 020 8358 0400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A 29-year-old man old has been charged with murder.
