84 year old tackles two intruders


Thieves steal money from Gunnersbury Avenue home

Police are appealing for information about an aggresive burglary that happened on Thursday 24th November 2005 at 21.45.

An 84 year old man was at his Gunnersbury Avenue home when he heard men talking.  When he went into his front lounge, he saw two male suspects.

He challenged them before one of the suspects reached into his jacket, which was hanging up, and stole money.

The suspects also attempted to steal the elderly man's cheque book and a struggled ensued resulting in the victim's nose being scratched.  However, the victim did manage to keep hold of the cheque book.

Police believe the two suspects gained entry via a flat roof at the back of the house where the bathroom window was forced.

The suspects fled via the back door and into the back garden.


The suspects are described as white males, about 45 years old, 6’ tall , wearing blue baseball caps and blue three quarter length jackets.
