John Lockey gets 15 months for possession of child pornography

John Lockey, aged 44, was jailed for 15 months and put on the sex offenders register after child protection officers raided his home in Cherry Crescent, Brentford and found pornographic videos featuring children.

Police were tipped off by the FBI who had found his name on a list of subscribers to a web site which sold child pornography. His arrest was part of Operation Ore in which British police have cooperated with their American counterparts to track down paedophiles. Lockey had pleaded guilty to 6 charges of possession of indecent images of children and 2 charges of making of indecent images of children.

Lockey, who had never been convicted of any similar offence, had worked at the Chiswick Child and Family Centre for 17 years up to its closure in 2001. He had also worked at local schools' under 5s club.

A spokesperson for Hounslow Council said, "Mr Lockey worked for Hounslow from 1984 to 2001 as a care worker. We have checked our records very carefully there is nothing that could raise any concerns during his time with us. We were concerned that this would also come as a shock to families who he worked with, so we have written to alert them and to invite them to call call us to discuss any worries or concerns they may have. "

Lockey was working as the station manager for London Underground at an Acton tube station at the time of his arrest but moved to Cornwall during the case.
