Reminder That Mayoral Election Is Next Week

Council asks residents to check polling station details before voting day

Hounslow residents are being reminded to check their polling station ahead of next week’s Mayoral elections.  The borough’s 105 polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 3rd May.

Chief Executive Mary Harpley said:

“Your polling station will be shown on your poll card, which you should have received by now.  Alternatively, a full list of polling stations is available on the council website, www.hounslow.gov.uk/polling_stations .

“If you think you might forget to go and vote, London Elects has set up a free reminder service; just log onto www.londonelects.org.uk and sign up.”

The deadline to register to vote or to apply for a postal vote have now passed, but the deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 25 April.

The elections, which take place on 3 May, are for the Mayor of London and the 25 Members of the London Assembly.  The Mayor and Assembly will make decisions about issues that relate to transport, policing, the environment, housing and economic development, all of which impact on the lives of those residing and working in Hounslow.

Mary Harpley continued:

“With three separate ballots taking place on the same day, it’s important to be clear on what you are voting for in each case.

“Earlier this month, everyone who was registered to vote should have received an information booklet about the election listing all the London Assembly candidates, including mini-manifestos from the Mayoral candidates and information about how to vote.

“If you haven’t received one, you can view or download it from our website, and also watch a short animated video on how to vote.”
