Entry into a £100 prize draw for as a reward for prompt response
According to council figures, more than 3,000 households have taken advantage of Hounslow Council’s new online registration service to return their unchanged Register of Electors form as well as over 11,000 households registering their forms via phone.
Although it is a legal requirement to respond to the forms, the council have offered residents the added incentive of all forms registered or returned before midnight on 4th October being entered into a prize draw to win £100 gift vouchers for the store of their choice.
Those who are yet to respond to their “Voter Registration Form 2006/07” will receive a reminder in the week beginning 18 September. However, those who do not respond at all could face a heavy fine as well as being unable to vote. It should also be noted that not being registered could also affect future applications for mortgages or credit.
Even if the information on the form is correct and no changes are required the householder still needs to register to confirm the details. This can be done by:
Residents who wish to register over the phone or online will be asked for a two-part security code, which can be found on the form.
If the information on the form needs changing the form should be filled in, signed and returned by post in the envelope provided as quickly as possible.
The form is addressed to the “Present Occupier” so if the names that appear pre-printed on the form no longer live at the address the current occupier must cross out their names and write in the new occupiers names.
