CIP deny redundancy threat

CIP Dismiss UNISON Claim

Hounslow CIP respond to reports that loss of contract will result in further redundancies

In response to the recent claims by the trade union UNISON that there could be further redundancies at CIP, Ashley Riches, Head of Customer Services at CIP, sent us the following clarification.

CIP held the grounds maintenance contract for the whole of the London Borough of Hounslow. This includes parks and open spaces, grass verges etc. One element of grounds maintenance was also 'Housing', i.e. local authority homes and their communal garden areas.

In the last year, housing became a separate entity from LBH, now called Hounslow Homes. The contract was due for review late last year, at which time Hounslow Homes decided to put the contract out to tender.

Unfortunately, CIP did not secure the renewal of the contract. Whilst disappointed, this in no way affects the financial or operational stability of CIP. Employees who previously worked in the housing areas will be transferred under TUPE agreements.

We are always disappointed to find that a contract has not been renewed, especially one that has operated for so long. However, various factors were considered by Hounslow Homes and now they are separate from LBH, we respect their right to choose a new service provider.

We are extremely pleased that we have won the new tenders for Social Services and for Cranford Community College amongst others. We also recently submitted various tenders for Arboriculture in the London area, and are awaiting their responses.
