Metroline Bus Strikes Suspended After New Pay Offer
Drivers to vote on further action but Abellio dispute continues

Hopes have been raised that at least one of the strikes on public transport in London may not go ahead after Metroline bus drivers suspended industrial action.
Three days of strike action scheduled for this week involving over 2,000 bus drivers were called off after last minute talks produced an improved pay offer.
The workers, who are members of Unite, were due to begin strike action from Thursday (1 December). However, following talks brokered by the conciliation service Acas, Metroline made an improved pay offer.
Unite agreed to suspend the planned action in order to ballot its members.
Unite regional officer Laura Johnson said, “Following last minute talks at Acas, the strikes scheduled for tomorrow have been suspended to allow our members to be balloted on the new offer.”
If the workers reject the latest offer from Metroline then the remaining strikes scheduled for 8, 9, 15 and 16 December will go ahead as planned.
The separate strike action involving bus drivers employed by Abellio in South and West London is still taking place.
Drivers at some garages operated by Metroline originally planned to strike on seven days in December, with the first action starting on Thursday 1 December and the last day of action on Saturday 17 December.
If it proceeds, it is expected to affect around 70 routes, mainly in north, northwest and west London.
The bus drivers are based at garages in Battersea, Beddington, Hayes, Southall, Twickenham and Walworth. A list of routes likely to be affected is given in the table below.
The next round runs from Thursday 8 December-Saturday 10 December and finally Thursday 15 December-Saturday 17 December. Services could be affected through to around 6:00am the morning following the final day of a period of strike action, which means night buses will be affected the night after a strike action. Night buses will run as normal into the morning of the start of a period of strike action.
The Abellio strikes are taking place on 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 December.
