Off Duty Anaesthetist Saves Cyclist


After collision with Land Rover in Barnes

Medics have said that an off-duty anaesthetist helped save a cyclist's life after a crash with a Land Rover in Barnes today. A man in his thirties was given CPR after the collision which took place just before 6.30pm.

London Ambulance Service tactical advisor Chris Hawkewell said the rider was taken to a major trauma centre after the incident at the junction of Church Road and Barnes High Street.

He tweeted, "A number of resources including an ambulance and fast response paramedic are attending an RTC involving a car and cyclist on Church Road, Barnes.

"The cyclist had CPR by an off duty anaesthetist & is being treated by @LDNairamb medics. He is being taken to a major trauma centre.

"The patient started breathing after CPR was given, good work by the off duty anaesthetist who helped to save his life."

Police said the man suffered serious facial injuries in the crash.
