Ann Keen says: ‘Wear it Pink’

Local MP backs Breast Cancer Campaign

As a former nurse and secretary of the All Party Parliamentary Cancer Group Ann Keen MP has joined forces with Breast Cancer Campaign on its award winning ‘wear it pink’ day on Friday 27 October as part of breast cancer awareness month.

Ann was previously named the CANCERBACUP Public Figure of the Year and campaigns extensively on cancer issues. In addition to this work and regular meetings with constituents and organisations Ann is now calling on people to be aware of the ‘Wear it Pink’ Campaign.

By making a donation of just £2 you can dress as brightly as you like, as long as it’s pink. Your donation will allow Breast Cancer Campaign to continue researching the cure and help the one woman in nine in the UK that will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Last year fun loving “pinkies” raised a staggering £1.69 million with the target £2.1 million this year.

Ann Keen MP says “Every year over 13,000 people in the UK die from breast cancer. Some of them will be from my constituency of Brentford & Isleworth and that is why I am supporting Breast Cancer Campaign’s ‘‘wear it pink’ day. Encourage your family and friends to do the same. It’s great fun and the money raised will go towards valuable breast cancer research.”

Breast Cancer Campaign is the only charity that specialises in funding independent research into breast cancer throughout the UK. Their aim is to find the cure for breast cancer by funding research which looks at improving diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, better understanding how it develops and ultimately either curing the disease or preventing it. Currently it supports 69 research projects, worth over £9 million in 47 centres of excellence across the UK.
