Members of muslim community celebrate Eid-al-Adha with MPs
Ann Keen MP and other Parliamentary colleagues attended a special reception on Monday 16th January at the House of Commons to celebrate Eid-al-Adha.
A special tea was arranged for members of the Muslim community from across the UK to come together on this auspicious occasion.
Chiswick resident, Baker Almosswi, was invited to the reception where he listened to an address by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown MP.
Ann Keen said “It was a wonderful celebration but it is also important to take this opportunity to reflect on the terrible tragedy in Mecca last week where there were many fatalities and serious injuries. Our thoughts go to the many families across the world and in Britain who were affected.”
The event was sponsored by the Al-Khoei Foundation, the Muslim Council of Britain and the Union of Muslim Organisations.
About 300 people attended the event including Britain's leading Muslims, and Ambassadors to London from Muslim countries and the Foreign Secretary, the Rt Hon Jack Straw MP.
