Greenford Man Convicted of Killing Pedestrian on A4


Free-runner Karol Michta could face jail for causing fatality in Isleworth

 

A Greenford man faces a potential jail sentence after being convicted of killing a pedestrian on the Great West Road.

22-year-old Karol Michta was racing another car in his red Mazda MX-5 on17 May 2015 on the A4 in Isleworth. He was travelling at a speed at least 20mph in excess of the limit when he hit 53-year-old Henrik Luszcz who was crossing the dual carriageway. Mr Luszcz received treatment for the injuries he suffered but was pronounced dead at the scene. The Court at the Old Bailey was told that he was propelled for a distance of at least 45 metres due to the force of the collision.

Michta, who studying mechanical engineering at Queen Mary University, is a free-runner who performs stunts in urban locations, a sport that is known as Parkour. He took part in a demonstration outside 10 Downing Street in 2011.

Mr Luszcz’s daughter said, in a statement, “The driver destroyed my life. I’ve not been able to move on or do anything with this hanging over my family and myself. The circumstances are often in my mind and it makes me so unhappy.”

Michta admitted the charge of causing death by dangerous driving and is due to be sentenced on Friday.
