Arrest Made in A4 Hit and Run Death Case

A 28-year-old man is under arrest in connection with the death of a man last Sunday after handing himself in at a police station.

Police investigating an incident in which 31-year-old Janusz Adam Partyka, who lived locally, was killed are holding the man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was hit just before 5.00am at the A4 Great West Road, junction with Wood Lane, Osterley on Sunday 8th February and the driver failed to stop.

An investigation is being conducted by officers from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

Having appealed to find a blue BMW believed to have been involved in the collision, police now say they have recovered the vehicle.

The A4 was closed to traffic in both directions from Gillette Corner to Thornbury Road for much of the day.

An air ambulance attended but Mr Partyka was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

There were long traffic delays are on this route and around the Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth areas during the day.
