Woman on way to airport helped at scene of accident
Detectives are renewing appeals for witnesses to a fatal collision on the A4 and are appealing in particular for a woman who helped at the scene to come forward.
Just before 05:00hrs on Sunday, 8 February, police were called to the scene of a road traffic collision on the A4 Great West Road, near the junction with Wood Lane, Osterley.
A blue BMW had been in collision with a male pedestrian on the westbound carriageway and the BMW failed to stop.
London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was Janusz Adam Partyka, 31, who lived locally. A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a head injury.
A woman using the name Jan stopped her vehicle at the location and assisted with a call for ambulance and police. She used another witness's mobile handset. Jan indicated that she witnessed the fatal collision and was on her way to the airport to pick up her parents.
Jan also returned to the scene of the collision some days later and left a condolence card that touched the hearts of the family.
Detective Sergeant Jeff Edwards of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "I am appealing for this woman to call me, since she may have important information to assist with this most serious of enquiries.
"If you know anyone, possibly named Jan, who has mentioned witnessing the incident, please would you urge her to contact police."
