The Walled Garden company will operate in true repertory style
June 25, 2026
The cast and creative team for this year’s Walled Garden Summer Season, promising a varied programme of open-air theatre in the historic setting of Boston Manor Park.
Running throughout the summer, the season presented by The Arts Centre Hounslow will feature five productions — The Wind in the Willows, She Stoops to Conquer, The Pirates of Penzance, Miscast Musicals and Icons of the Silver Screen. The company will operate in true repertory style, with actors rehearsing one show while performing another, often switching roles across the season.
Leading the cast is Alex Brain as Toad in The Wind in the Willows, whose career spans BBC productions and international tours with Wright & Grainger. Joining them are Duncan Shelton, recently seen in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child; Deeivya Meir, whose credits include Life of Pi and Doctor Who; and Michael D’Cruze, known for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Jesus Christ Superstar. The ensemble also includes Gregor Duncan, Leo Burke, Sophie Spencer, Ewan Reilly, Laura Hannawin, Danni Ashby, Lara Dailey, Soraya Figueira and Orla Breslin, combining seasoned performers with those making their professional debuts.
Artistic Director Jonathan Ashby-Rock, who created the Walled Garden Summer Season, will direct The Wind in the Willows and She Stoops to Conquer, and appear as the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance.
Choreography is by Sam Spencer-Lane, whose career spans the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Menier Chocolate Factory. The adaptation of The Wind in the Willows is by John Ginman, with music by Ron McAllister, and costumes by long-time collaborator Erica Malcolmson.
Ashby-Rock said the repertory model offers audiences a unique experience: “An actor you see as Mole or Ratty one afternoon may be playing a comic servant, a romantic lead or a pirate when you return for another show a few days later. It asks a great deal of our company, but it creates an exciting energy for audiences and a wonderful collaborative spirit for everyone involved.”
The season continues The Arts Centre Hounslow’s focus on developing emerging talent alongside established professionals, maintaining high artistic standards while offering meaningful opportunities for new performers.
Tickets for all productions are now on sale at wgsummerseason.co.uk.
