Local Politicians Support Piccadilly Line Stop

Angie Bray and Lib Dem Gary Malcolm are long-time campaigners

MP Angie Bray says she is 'delighted' at the large response to her leaflet around Southfield Ward asking people to respond to the TfL consultation on stopping the Piccadilly Line at Turnham Green throughout the day.

She has received well over 300 replies to her leaflet, posted to her House of Commons office, which she has delivered to City Hall for the attention of London’s Mayor, Boris Johnson.

Southfield ward Councillor, Gary Malcolm, said: "It is interesting that the other political parties are jumping on this bandwagon we created about ten years ago. The Liberal Democrats suggested both a trial and replacing Barons Court with Turnham Green as a stop on the Piccadilly Line journey way back in 2010. I am glad they are joining our cause. There is still about a week for people to send their views to TFL. I urge all local residents to go online and tell TfL that the Piccadilly Line should stop in Chiswick."

Angie says, “Southfield residents have been pressing for this for so many years – it’s frustrating as they see Piccadilly Line trains whizzing through Turnham Green half empty during the day when there are crowds still waiting on the platform for a slower District Line train.  Turnham Green is a very busy and important station along the line and it would be such an improvement to have the Piccadilly Line stopping there throughout the day.”
