Got more than one bathroom?

Ad - The Italian Plumber asks: Ever heard of a Megaflow system?

Imagine the scenario: you walk into a large family home first thing in the morning and are met by a chorus of screams, ouches, and expletives. That’s the sound of its occupants using more than one bathroom at a time, and those noises are the unhappy responses to the uncomfortable effects of low water pressure and poor temperature control.

This is a problem for many of my West London-based plumbing clients who are fortunate enough to own two or even three bathrooms or shower rooms.

Owning multiple bathrooms can bring a great deal of convenience to those living there, especially if it’s a busy family. But as illustrated, it does come with its own set of inconveniences, which may resonate with you too.

What is a Megaflow system?

Megaflow and Megaflo are actually brand names that have become colloquial terms to describe a “mains unvented hot water cylinder.” They are designed to solve the hot water and pressure problems that come with having several bathrooms, leaving you with a high level of comfort regardless of how many are being used at any one time.

It is essentially a stainless steel water tank that heats and stores water, runs directly from the mains, and is capable of running up to three baths and showers simultaneously. There is no need for a cold water tank.

What are the pros of installing a Megaflow system?

  • Enjoy high pressure showers, quicker bath running times, and a consistently hot temperature
  • Eco friendly: can be used alongside solar panels
  • Completely sealed system: no worries concerning water contamination
  • Can be installed anywhere in the home
  • Many safety features providing you with more peace of mind
  • No need for shower pumps

What are the cons of installing a Megaflow system?

  • The system relies on mains pressure, so a flow rate test is needed to ensure it’s suitable for a Megaflow
  • Despite hot water being stored, it still requires mains pressure to deliver it effectively
  • High pressure demands strong pipework; if yours isn’t up to standard, it will need replacing
  • High water velocity can result in significant noise
