ISL wins Excellence in Education award 2025

The International School of London has won the Relocate Global award for Excellence in Education, recognising the fantastic work they do in supporting students and their families who come to the school in Chiswick from all over the world.

Focusing primarily on their innovative ‘Transitions Care Programme’ the awards judges commented “The entry showcases each aspect of ISL's approach to relocation. The highly effective and authentic community connections, the impact on those receiving this support at all levels and from the beginning of the process. Most of all ISL's commitment to excellence with and for their students and families.”

With students from over 50 different countries in the school, the support to help new joiners quickly feel at home is essential. Each student is paired with a buddy and parents are also helped to settle in with parent representatives for both their child’s class and home language, and there are even free weekly English lessons for parents to help build language skills and community connections.

Transitions Care reaches into every part of school life, to make sure that everyone feels included and has a sense of belonging. There are many workshops for students to participate in, on topics such as identity, culture, empathy and inclusion, reflecting the focus on wellbeing and personalised care at ISL.

Cultural diversity is celebrated through events like the International Food Festival and Multilingualism Week, where students explore music, cuisine, dance and storytelling from different cultures. Every student studies their home language within the curriculum, strengthening both their sense of identity and academic achievement.

ISL welcomes students from around the world, including the UK, where bilingual families in particular appreciate the benefits of the home language programme.
