Home Instead Hammersmith & Chiswick cares for its care professionals as well as its clients (Ad)
Local care company Home Instead Hammersmith & Chiswick has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer, which sees its care professionals receive an hourly wage significantly higher than the government minimum wage for over 23s, which currently stands at £9.50 per hour.
In London, nearly a fifth of all jobs (17.2%) pay less than the real Living Wage, which means that around 700,000 people aren’t paid what is considered enough to live off. Home Instead Hammersmith & Chiswick is keen to reward care professionals with a wage that reflects their hard work, dedication, and difference they make to the community.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the cost of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to almost 400,000 people and put over £2 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.
Domizia Conti, End of life care manager at Home Instead Hammersmith & Chiswick, said, ‘’I am thrilled to announce that we have been accredited for paying our employees the London Living Wage. All our care professionals deserve to be paid a wage that reflects the work they do and dedication to the job they deliver. Not only do they put their heart and soul into caring for those living with dementia, but they also go above and beyond for clients, providing them with a level of care like no other.”
