Chiswick Auctions Free Valuation Day

Bring your treasures along for assessment on 30th November at St Nicholas Church

What is a typical day like at Chiswick Auctions? Well there is no such thing as a typical day in an auction house. It could be a pair of sketches by John Constable arrive for valuation, having been hidden under a bed for years. The owners were thrilled when they went on to sell for £115,000 in auction. By contrast, only yesterday a giant replica elephant's head was hoisted into the saleroom in preparation for our forthcoming auction titled ‘From the Curious to the Extraordinary'. Everyday is different.

For Liz Winnicott, Head of Valuations, her favourite part of the job is the element of surprise; “there is nothing more exciting than telling someone their family heirloom or recent find is worth a lot more than they expected. The delight this gives is priceless” Recent valuation day discoveries include a Chinese Qing Dynasty decorative box, brought in to a Valuation Day in Richmond, which sold for £3,750 at Chiswick Auctions. Just a few weeks ago a rather unassuming mid 19th century Howard & Sons rosewood trolley rolled up to be valued, it rolled back out again having sold for £1,600.

So, have you ever thought of coming to Chiswick Auctions for a free valuation? Well, on Saturday 30th November you won't need to go far because Liz and her team will be at St Nicholas Church, hosting a free, no obligation Valuation Day between 11am - 4pm. If you have something you've always wondered about, a piece of jewellery, a painting or a vase, why not pop by, it could be your day for a surprise!

Chiswick Auctions Modern & Post-War British Art sale will be taking place on Tuesday 3 December at 2pm. If you would like a printed catalogue for the sale email madeleine.white@chiswickauctions.co.uk.
