Britain's biggest beer festival will be at Olympia

More than 900 real ales, cider and foreign beer will be on offer at the Great British Beer Festival, which again takes place at Olympia.  

It's the biggest beer festival in Britain and is expected to attract 55,000 people to the event, which takes place from August 12-16. The picture below is of the 2013 event.

The main attraction is the vast choice of real ale at the festival's 29 bars, but there's plenty else going on - including traditional pub games, live music and a range of food and merchandise stalls.

Thursday will be the annual Hat Day, if you would like to get into the spirit of this year's circus theme, why not see if you can top the Beermaster's top hat with your own weird and wacky design. The 'Hat Day' emperor will as usual be doing his rounds throughout the day, giving away beer tokens and other prizes, so everyone has a chance to win a prize

The Champion Beer of Britain competition will take place on the Tuesday. A blind tasting by a number of real ale writers, journalists and a few celebrities will decide on who is judged the Supreme Champion Beer of Britain for 2014.

And there will be no shortage of beer from across Britain, and the world, to pick from at the CAMRA bars. Eleven breweries from around the country will be well represented at the Festival with their own bar, including Chiswick-based, Fuller's.

The festival is open as follows: 12th August – 5pm-10:30pm, 13th August – 12 noon-10:30pm, 14th August – 12 noon-10:30pm, 15th August – 12 noon-10:30pm, 16th August – 11am-7:00pm. Tickets are £12 on the door, or £10 in advance.
