A pub in central Putney has reopened after being closed for nearly a month for refurbishment.

The Jolly Gardeners on Lacy Road has been given a makeover along with its pub garden. The owners say that they were aiming for an English country garden feel and wanted to retain and enhance the traditional look of both the interior and exterior of the venue that was built in 1937.

The team pride themselves on their community spirit and will continue to run a Tuesday night quiz night, which it claims is the longest-running in Putney.

Live sports will continue to be shown at the pub with boxing added to the list of what’s available.

It will continue to serve pub classics, sirloin steak, fish and chips and burgers, as well as a range of Sunday roasts.

Along with the new food menu prepared by a new head chef, guests will also be greeted with an extensive drinks menu, boasting a wide selection of craft beers, ciders and new to the menu – cocktails.

Speaking about the refurbishment, General Manager Shane said: “This has been a wonderful opportunity to breathe new life into the local pub. Although it has always been dependable to friends and neighbours it was beginning to look tired as the last refurb was over 10 years
ago.

“We are reopening with a bang and looking forward to welcoming guests”.
