Fleur Anderson Launches 'Putney Gives' Campaign
MP aiming to boost donations as people struggle with cost of living

Fleur Anderson has launched a campaign called ‘Putney Gives’ as part of an effort to boost donations to help people struggling with rising costs.
The aim is to increase the amount people in her constituency give to foodbanks and community organisations who help people across Putney, Roehampton and Southfields.
The Putney MP has organised a donations drive leading up to Friday 26 May at 10am, giving residents a month to drop off every day essential items to collection points around the area.
Ms Anderson said, “Lots of local families are struggling and many people want to generously help our community. I’m organising this campaign to make it easier to help each other. We need local residents who are able to drop off essential items to the easy to access drop-off points around the constituency. Then, on Friday 26th May, we will collect all the donations and take them to foodbanks, nurseries, schools and other local organisations which need them.
“I have started ‘Putney Gives’ as I know that local families are struggling. I have visited local organisations, charities and foodbanks every week since my election, and never before heard such dire updates from them as those I’ve received recently.
"I know that the Cost of Living Crisis has hit residents in Putney, Southfields and Roehampton incredibly hard, with people who have never struggled financially before struggling to meet the costs of heating their homes and feeding their families. We have so many brilliant community organisations in Putney, and so I’m delighted to bring them all together for this drive.”
The campaign launch came on the same day that the Trussell Trust announced that more food parcels had been handed out in the year to March in the UK than ever before. In Wandsworth, figures from the Trussell Trust showed that 10,052 food parcels were distributed in the borough, up from 9680 the year before.
The MP continued, “I have been into nurseries and schools which are covering the cost of pupils’ meals and even nappies. This drive is about supporting organisations to offer free support to families who are struggling. Thank you to all the Churches, the Synagogue and the Mosque, as well as local schools, who are all so enthusiastic about Putney Gives. It should go without saying that no family should have to depend on charity donations in order to get by, and I’ll continue fighting in Westminster for political action on the Cost of Living Crisis”.
The drop-off points for the Putney Gives campaign are:
• St Mary’s Church, Putney High Street, SW15 1SN((open 7 days a week, 10am-4pm, via cafe)
• St Michael's Church, 71 Wimbledon Park Rd, SW18 5TT (open Mon- Fri 8:30am-5pm excluding bank holidays)
• St Barnabas Church, 146 Lavenham Rd, SW18 5EP (open Sun 9am-1pm)
• Holy Trinity Church, 7 Ponsonby Rd, SW15 4LA (open 7 days a week 7:30am-6pm)
• St Paul's Church, 120 Augustus Rd, SW19 6EW (open Tues, Thu, Sat 10am-12pm, Mon, Tues 2pm-4pm, Sun 6pm-7pm, drop-off to Church or at Vicarage 116 Augustus Rd)
• Fazl Mosque and the Wimbledon Synagogue are collecting donations internally
Items should be donated by 10am on Friday 26 May. The list of items requested include:

• Tinned potatoes
• Tinned rice pudding
• Packet noodles
• Jam
• Tomato ketchup
• Savoury crackers
• Fruit Squash
• Baby wipes
• Loo roll
• Nappies
• Baked beans
• Kidney beans
• Tea bags
• Laundry tabs
