Roger Hallam being arrested
54-year-old Roger Hallam, an environmental activist who lives on Putney Bridge Road, has been released from prison on bail after one month. He is due to face trial for allegedly plotting to vandalise trade union properties.
The climate activist was arrested at his Putney home after a series of actions targeting liberal institutions including throwing paint over the four main political parties, including, the Green Party.

According to the direct action group and anti-political party Burning Pink, of which Roger Hallam is a founding member, it was: "thanks to a Green Party member that the activists were sent to prison after they handed a recorded Zoom call as evidence to the police".
According to Burning Pink, Roger Hallam has emerged from prison "keen to make peace with the individual, inviting them to speak with him so he could understand their actions".
On his release, Roger Hallam has complained about living in a cell infested with cockroaches and mice and that prison had inadequate vegan food options.
Beyond Politics Party UK is part of the global movement, Burning Pink an international network which believes citizen assemblies rather than parliamentary democracy can provide the solution to the challenges of climate change. Although most of their activists were formerly Extinction Rebellion activists they are no longer associated.
