Lidl Set To Open in Kings Mall Hammersmith

New store will open its doors next Thursday

Lidl GB has confirmed that its new supermarket in Kings Mall Shopping Centre, Hammersmith, will open for the first time on Thursday 11 March at 8am.

The store opening times will be between 8am – 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am – 5pm on Sunday.

The new Hammersmith store follows hot on the heels of four new Lidl supermarkets opening in London last month including stores in Richmond and Putney. In recent years the supermarket chain has also opened stores in the West 12 Centre in Shepherd’s Bush and the Oaks Shopping Centre in Acton.

The new store will create around 40 new roles for the area and will feature facilities including an 825m2 sales area, an in-store bakery and parking for cars in the shopping centre.

Lidl says surplus food and customer donations will also be given to a number of local charities including Westminster Children’s University Food Banks, Ay Group Community Services, Dalgarno Trust Foodbank and The Good Shepherds.. This is delivered through Lidl’s Feed it Back scheme, which is run in partnership with Neighbourly and connects Lidl stores up and down the country with local charities, food banks, community cafes and kitchens, putting quality food surplus to good use every day.

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Mike Devine, commented: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing our new store to Hammersmith. It is great for us to be able to create more jobs in the area, and we are proud to serve the local community at this time.”

As per government guidance, the wearing of face coverings in supermarkets is now mandatory across England. Lidl is operating a range of social distancing measures to try to maintain a safe environment for both staff and customers. Clear communication, including floor markings, continue to be implemented across stores, reminding customers of the importance of maintaining a two-metre distance.

Other measures that continue to be in place include dedicated cleaning stations at entrances, hand sanitiser, disinfectant spray and wipes for customers to use on their trolleys and baskets, protective screens at checkouts, as well as visors and face coverings are available for staffs to wear. In addition, customers are encouraged to pay by contactless payment where possible.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
