Six On Trial at Old Bailey over Murder of Amrou Greenidge

Former England Taekwando star run down and attacked on Fulham's Broomhouse Lane

Victim - 18 year-old Amrou Greenidge

Six people, including a father and son and three youths aged 16 and 17 are on trial at the Old Bailey over the murder last August of Fulham teenager Amrou Greenidge.

Amrou, 18, a former England Taekwondo star, was riding his bike on Broomhouse Lane, between Sulivan Court and Hurlingham Park on 18 August last year when he was hit by a car and then attacked while on the ground.

He suffered severe head injuries and died in hospital on Tuesday 20 August.

The car, a silver mini Countryman, was later found burnt out in nearby Dymock Street, and a 19 year-old was treated in hospital for burn injuries.

Those facing trial for murder are a 16 year-old, two 17 year-olds, Darrel Mortimer, 20 and Connor Gwynn-Bliss, 19.

Gwynn-Bliss is also on trial on suspicion of arson and perversion of the course of justice along with his father Vincent Gwynn, 56.

The court heard that Connor Gwynn-Bliss asked his father for a can of petrol he'd later use to torch the car involved in the murder of Amrou.

The trial continues at the Old Bailey.

After his death, it emerged that Amrou, pictured above, had represented Great Britain at the junior European and World Championships for Taekwondo and won the Commonwealth Championship for his age group in 2014.

His former coach at Fusion Taekwondo club in Peckham, Michael Georgiou, paid tribute to him saying: " His charisma and his spirit would just come alive when he was fighting. He was so full of life and just a really good kid.

"All the younger kids looked up to him, but I don’t think he realised what a role model he was. Honestly, I’ve never seen a talent like his in my life."
