Why aren't Hounslow automatically cancelling Acton Lane diversion fines?

They know that anyone who drove north up Turnham Green Terrace between Friday evening and Monday afternoon was following what appeared to be an official diversion sign.Why do people therefore need to go through the appeal process?What possible explanation for this behaviour is there other than they dishonestly want to get money out of people who have done nothing wrong? For many people the cost of PCN is not an insignificant amount of money. At this time of financial stress for many some of those who unwittingly pay will be going through a time of great hardship.

Another new scam

Had a call from "the Government Eco Scheme" I did not let it get any further that the automated voice telling me it was the Government Eco Scheme before I put the phone down. The scheme is genuine, offering help with energy optimisation, and also the new green grant. The Green Grant scheme is falling over because of a lack of authorised installers. The scammers will claim that they are authorised and get you hooked to claim the grants. If you are called by them, check them with the website https://www.simpleenergyadvice.org.uk/installer-search

Ealing Pay Online. Be careful

Last year my daughter was charged 150.00 for her Zone M parking permit. I thought is was a bit steep and queried it. Got an email saying they'd refunded 50.00 on to her card. No explanation or apology. On hindsght I think even 100.00 was too much. Last night she went online to renew her permit again and was asked to pay 200.00. I wonder how many people, when paying Ealing online, just pay up and dont question.

So a month ago I booked a Flu vaccine with Lloyd’s Pharmacy.I received a date and specific appointment time.Yesterday I received an email to confirm a number of details.This afternoon I received an email to say the appointment was cancelled.Does anyone know where you can book a flu vaccine for under 65’s?

CAR REG. for Streetspace in Grove Park

I had trouble filling in Hounslow car reg form proving my address details (only lived at this same address since 1975, same car since 2002, 2 lots of Blue Badges, registered as extremely vulnerable - what more do they want?).   A neighbour with same problem, rang Hounslow - was phoned back - ALL CHANGED.From now on those of us who were having problems with the form could, from today, give their details over the phone!! i.e. call the given number, as on the letter (020 8583 3322) and wait for a call back to then give our details. I said I assumed this was because of the high number of people who literally were not able to complete the form, and she had to agree. Apparently it was decided this morning!!

Emergency services and the High Road

Today we saw an ambulance unable to get round all of the traffic and traffic restrictions on the High Road. How can this be an acceptable position for us to be in where lives are being put at risk - surely no one at any level of authority can support this?

New YouGov poll shows even greater majority support for LTNs

YouGov poll shows 57% support for LTNs and 16% opposition.  "The nationwide polling, carried out earlier this month, found 26% of people said they strongly supported LTNs, and 31% would “tend” to. Ruth Cadbury Catalytic Thefts

Well done better late than never, although she could have done this over a year ago!I wrote to our MP as did many about the thefts of catalytic converters early 2019. The amount of thefts then in Chiswick was becoming out of control, me being a victim on Dukes Meadows. The local figures then were increasing at an alarming rate I found from info from Police and car repairers. Better late than never. Might she now think of the chaos being caused by the Hounslow councillors and their ridiculous road traffic changes they are making in the area without consultation and any thought or consideration to the people who live and try to operate a business. Jumping on the band wagon for her own good after the horse has bolted. Wake up and do something.

Watch out for Hounslow Council's latest cunning TGT trap

Because of the Acton Lane works, diversion signs have been put up telling people to go up Turnham Green Terrace.I'm sure any fines given out will be easy to appeal but the council know that many people receiving them will not make an appeal so this will be a lucrative day for the council.

CPZ and removals lorries

We are about to move house from a CPZ in Chiswick (Hounslow). The CPZ we are in is operational 10:00 to 12:00 Monday to Friday, and it does not have marked bays. Does anyone know if there is a requirement to obtain special permits for removals companies and if there is a way to have the spaces outside our house reserved? Thx,  Karl

What's The Point?

Walked through Chiswick High Road at the weekend and could not believe the amount of cyclists using the pavement. All these cycle lanes popping up everywhere and yet barely anyone using them. If we are all expected to welcome and encourage cycling then it should be mandatory for cyclists to be licensed and prohibited from using footpaths when cycle lanes are provided. One guy on his bike with no light riding merrily along the footpath whilst texting on his mobile. He leaves the footpath and crosses the road to end up on the opposite pavement, phone still in hand.

Restaurants Chiswick High Road Tier 2.

Last night had a walk down Chiswick High road to go to the local Sainsburys. Noticed nearly every single restaurant was full, so obviously people, nor restaurants are taking Tier 2 rules very seriously. That unless every person in those restaurants are in some sort of bubble. I understand these restaurants need to survive, but what's the point of Tier 2 rules if people are not following. Seems all a bit pointless.

RIP Willy - staff member at Gunnersbury Station

I saw a notice in the ticket office window at Gunnersbury Station tonight that Willy, the moustached pipe smoking member of staff who manned the ticket office counter for more than 20 years has sadly passed away.  Willy kept the station going during the dark Silverlink years and was always highly knowledgeable.  I am sure he will be missed by many passengers at Gunnersbury.

Office room for a small charity?

Hi all,Does anyone know of a small office to rent?  I've got free desk space in Carnaby Street (thanks to SOLT) but I'm going to start Zoom tuition calls every Tues and Thursday 7-9pm during term-time, so a hot desk won't really be suitable.  We're a registered Theatre charity. And I have my own desk if needed! Any suggestions gratefully received! Thanks.
