Hammersmith Bridge - some river traffic to be allowed on Sundays

The Port of London Authority (PLA) issued a Notice to Mariners yesterday giving details of arrangements to allow "controlled transits" on the river under Hammersmith Bridge on Sundays. The present ban on any passage on or under the bridge by land or water will remain, with the exception that people can apply in advance to pass under the bridge on the water. This is limited to Sundays only, because LBHF's contractors are working on the bridge for the other 6 days of the week. No passengers will be allowed on these transits, and I imagine that routine leisure trips will not be allowed.I hope this will mean that boats will once again be able to transfer from and to the boat maintenance yards at Brentford. The PLA notice is at https://server1.pla.co.uk/assets/u19of2020-barnelmsreach-hammersmithbridge-closedtonavigationexclusionzonecontrolledtransits.pdf

17th December Covid-19 infection rate

35,383 new cases reported, I think that's the highest rate ever ?Yet our Government is still going to allow  5 day Christmas get together ? Perhaps I'm  missing something but isn't that utter lunacy  ?

The Barber Puzzle

Has anyone else noticed how many new barbers have opened in the area in recent years and wondered why? Before this the smaller number of barbers didn’t seem to be packed out, so where are all the customers coming from for the new ones? Is it due to population increase, a possibility I suppose given the number of new apartment blocks in the area. Or are men just taking more care over their grooming?

Covid-19 vaccinations in West London

Is anyone aware of vaccinations taking place in West London? There are no NHS hospitals providing this service in our area. The nearest is the Royal Free! Hardly near.  The NHS in London seems to prioritise south London where five hospitals are vaccinating people. The Royal Free was until earlier this week the only unit north of the Thames. This week they added Queen’s Hospital in Romford and the Nightingale at EXcel. What about the west? Are any GP surgeries offering vaccinations? If the service doesn’t get started soon our over 85’s and care workers will be disadvantaged. Also it will take even longer to get to the rest of those on the priority list.

Beware this driver

To the woman driving a BMW last night around 11pm around Acton Green.Did you not see the signs stating that our road is closed? They are pretty large and if you actually looked down the road you’d see more signs and bollards blocking the road. Perhaps it was because you were on your phone, which you were. Was it because you’d had too much to drink that you decided to chance it anyway and drive up  to the road block? So then you realised that the road was blocked. But you had a cunning plan to save you reversing or turning the car around. By knocking down the bollards and a sign you calculated you could drive onto the pavement and carry on your way. Perhaps  your self-entitlement leads you to believe that rules are there for others and not for you.  Or you were too drunk to reverse. Or too drunk to care. I hope you carry on behaving like this because at some point someone will have their phone on them and you’ll be caught, breathalysed and fined. And have a lovely Christmas.

Xmas Lunch for vulnerable

Hi, Does anyone know of any venues which may provide/deliver Xmas lunch for those who are vulnerable/on their own, although I suspect that being in tier 3 does not help the matter.

Happy Nails - Outside Sainsburys

Does anyone know what has happened to Happy Nails salon, one of the stalls outside Sainsburys? The roof is off so I suspect she has removed her massage chairs, but I wondered if she had started up somewhere new? I had been using her for years. Thank you.

Aluminium window frame lock repair

Can anyone recommend a person or local company able to repair or fit new window locks for an aluminium framed window.   I think the locking handle just needs tightening up - it has worked loose but unable to find the same looking lock on line.   Thanks

Kept awake all night again - this time by faulty temporary lights

The temporary lights at junction of CHR and Goldhawk Road are now faulty, hooting has been absolutely incredible all evening and into the night.Literally listened to bus drivers leaning on their horn for 10 full seconds at 1am, disgraceful behaviour but it doesn't help that the temporary lights are stuck on red, so traffic backs up, people realise there's a problem and start hooting angrily at the cars at the front of the queue. Not to mention the problem is coming from THREE directions.I've tried to call TfL's emergency number, after going through the menu system which take 2 mins they make you jump through hoops by repeatedly confirming it's definitely an emergency, then cut you off after you press hash to confirm. Done this now 4 times. It's literally like however hard you try to get through to TfL to explain what the problems at this junction are - and they have been problems for years but this temporary light situation is unbearable - they just don't want to help resolve them. What can I do?

No right turn into Duke Road from Bourne Place

A sign has gone up to this effect. How exactly am I supposed to get to my house on Glebe Street? Duke Road and Devonshire Road are closed to traffic southbound onto the glebe estate and we were left with just this Bourne Place access but now it looks like this further restriction has been put in place. What the hell is going on? How are we supposed to work with this? This is beyond a joke.

HELP please URGENT to avoid repeat fines.

Is that camera in operation in Hartington Rd.   Elderly neighbours with no computer have not registered their car.  Very unfair if they are going to incur a fine each time they exit at Roko traffic lights.    WHAT IS THE TEL NO. AT LBH?     On line form no good in this case.   They are to fraught to do it themselves, can I or someone else do it for them?    During carer's visits, wife rushes out for food/petrol etc driving out at Hartington Rd A316 and back over C.Bridge.I thought the idea was to help residents enjoy a Safer Neighbourhood - Bah to that, absolutely crazy - it's made life impossible here in Grove Park!
