Lane closures on A316 in Chiswick over Dec & Jan

Received this letter today thru the mailbox:Great Chertsey Road: Essential maintenance of A316 Grove Park BridgeI am writing to let you know that from 6 December 2021 to 17 January 2022 essential maintenanceand refurbishment works will be carried out to Grove Park Bridge on the A316 Great Chertsey Road. Please note, there are two bridges with the name 'Grove Park Bridge in this area. We will work on the bridge over the rail track just north of Chiswick Bridge on the A316 Great Chertsey Road. We will not be working on the 'Grove Park Bridge located off Grove Park Road nearer Chiswick rail station. These works will improve the long-term condition of the bridge, road surface and pavements. How our works may affect you We will work on weekdays from 08:00 until 17:00 and Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00.We will also work 24 hours a day across two weekends -17 to 20 December 2021 and 14 to 17 January 2022 –during this period. This will enable us to get as much work done as possible and speed up the overall programme The noisiest works will be carried out before 23:00 every night. As agreed with the London Borough of  Hounslow we won't work between 20 December 2021 and 3 January 2022. We will make every effort to finish the works on time, although poor weather conditions may mean we need to reschedule at short notice. Traffic Lane closures will be in place on the A316 Great Chertsey Road on the approaches to Grove Park Bridge-from Chiswick Bridge to the south ,and Hogarth roundabout to the north-24hours a day for the duration of the works, If you plan to drive, please allow more time to complete your journey Pedestrians The pavement along the A316 Great Chertsey Road will be closed in the northbound direction from 6 to 20 December 2021, and in the southbound direction from 4 to 17 January 2022. We will clearly signpost the temporary closures, and a safe pedestrian diversion route will be provided. Buses Northbound bus stop 'Staveley Road' (Stop R) will be suspended from 6 December to 20 December 2021. The nearest alternative stop is Alexandra Avenue' (Stop S). Burlington Lane Closure

Can anyone advise if LBH is planning to push ahead with closing the entrance to Burlington Lane from the A316? If so, what on earth will happen to the displaced traffic? Will Sutton Court Road bear the brunt? How can people travel to Chalkers Corner from the Hogarth Roundabout? How can such a closure of a main route benefit anyone? Might as well close the M4 or M25 take your pick. This is utter madness!

BMW driver kills man on pavement

Not local but good news

Although animals are badly mistreated the world over, including very badly in this country, some good news today. Not particularly local, but because good news is in short supply, I am delighted to let those who don't already know that National Trust members voted today to ban trail hunting on their land.  So-called 'trail hunting' is an excuse to exploit a loophole in the law to allow fox and fox cub hunting.  It has really made my week that this has now been banned.  Of course, illegal fox hunting continues in just about every county.  If you hate it as much as I do,please donate to your local fox hunt saboteurs who do a brilliant job and are often attacked, injured, sometimes severely, by these fox hunting thugs.

Bike Found on Ealing Rd, Brentford

Found a bike two days ago late at night on Ealing Rd. I have a suspicion it was nicked and abandoned as the gears at the back are bent into the wheel, stopping it moving.If you think it might be your bike, let me have a description with as much info as poss about the bike and contact info and hopefully I can reunite it with its owner.I posted a message on the Brentford Forum two days ago, no response, so trying here.

lost wallet

Hi,I lost my wallet yesterday on the high road. The last time I recall having it was by the charity shops near Sainsbury's on my lunch break.It is a small black wallet with a broken zip on top. It has my license inside along with several other cards. It also has a pouch for coins.Please reply to this message if you have any information.Thanks

Is this you cat?

Is this your cat? This little fella has been coming into my house in Weston Rd, Acton Green for about a week, and getting more and more persistant not to leave. Have a feeling he's been around about longer. I dont know how long I should give it before taking him to vet to check for chip. Dont want to kick him out, but dont want to feed someone else's cat. Thought this could be good first step.

Hounslow's head up its ass

The recent threads on budget hotel design and window replacement in Bedford Park caught my eye. For the record, to me the former is what it is while the latter is, as some have said, a chance for the gate keepers to hold sway over something they know little of while desperately clinging to the past. There are plenty of ways to replace windows with energy-efficient replicas suitable for any period conversion in a preservation area. Happens all the time.But the recent article about the LB housing on Wilton Avenue takes the cake. If we try to follow the bouncing ball of LBH lunacy, they are attempting to establish the Glebe Estate as a conservation area yet, on the very grounds they wish to preserve, they propose putting an egress stair tower as the focal point at the end of a lovely street. If the uninspired design of a budget hotel puts your knickers in a twist, take a look at the ugly amalgam of literal boxes plunked together as housing. It doesn't get more uninspired than this. Pure dread. Also interesting is the High Road Conservation area that seems to require a second round of assessment. Not to mention the second attempt to remove street clutter. What do we get? More clutter in the form of the new horrendous big black plastic containers for business waste now landing on a pavement near you. For this Guy Lambert should be removed. It is a wholly inept response on every level. Completely disjointed from the entire scope of activity on and evolution of the pavement. Reduce the pavement for a bike lane, then reduce it further by adding clutter simultaneous to the intent to remove it. Anyone who tries to sell all of this as a pedestrian improvement is a fool. A bench would be nice, Guy. Maybe even several. And what about those "heritage-style" LED lamps approved by LBH? Where are they? Why aren't they lining each side of Chiswick High Road along the Conservation Area?Good design is an integral part of building an inspiring streetscape and healthy community. Pity there exists no such agenda in Chiswick.
