night-time car thefts

Sometimes I forget to lock my car (on my driveway).Almost every time, everything inside gets stolen. It's happened multiple times over the last 20 years. This time: my driving glasses, a £2 pair of sun-glasses and some CDs. There seem to be people roaming around during the night checking car doors opportunistically and just grabbing whatever they can, even if it's almost worthless.Very frustrating. Anyone know who does this?

A lot of cars get broken into in Bourne Place. Ive seen cars being broken into early evening when there are people around. The thieves dont care. They break the tailgate window and then push down the cover to see what's underneath. Anyone I see parking I tell to leave the cover open so that hopefully they see there's nothing to steal

Firstly, most cars get broken into because they see or detect the signs. A car with nothing on show or no signs that point to something in the glove box,  centre console, or boot you are very much more likely not to be broken into. As for video doorbells. Unless you have a cheap one, the more modern ones are 4k upwards and good quality.

Yes they got in my car, no damage but there was nothing on view, theyfound a pair of sunglasses that had been missing for ages, they must have been put under the seat, anyhow they never took them.

Someone tried to break into my car a few years ago causing damage, it doesn't matter if your car is empty they will try and steal anything they can.

Just remember to lock your car and have nothing on show,or signs of electronics. As they say, it's not rocket science, and one gets what they deserve, whatever the thoughts of the type of people who carry out such crimes. SORRY,BUT ITS FACT

Simon,probably the nearest you will get to an answer to your question is opportunist thieves are doing this.Removing the opportunity might help the situation.
