Jack Emsley report front page

Having read this, you do wonder why people vote this council in. Not just the pay increase, but the losses. And to top it off, you have to clear a path yourselves after 2 years is pretty appalling. Like Gianni Infantino, if all true, Shantanu Rajawat needs a vote ofno confidence along with his ball boys and girls. VAR I SAY

I'm sure it would be useful if more people made sure that all the road signs were clear of vegetation and easy to see.  Then there might not about be so many complaints about being caught speeding.  I can't remember seeing any problem ones recently in Hounslow...  but in Ealing there are masses of roads where line painting needs redoing - and most importantly for those of us who walk a lot - zebra crossings which are losing/have lost their stripes.

I can confirm that this backs on to Chiswick cricket club.This gets overgrown quite quickly and covers the path.So we'll done to both councillors for helping.

Is this the stretch of overgrown path alongside the cricket pitch where there aren't actually any houses on that side of the road? It doesn't look as if there are any houses behind the overgrowth - and if there were it would be for the householders to deal with - so that might explain why it's not on any regular Hounslow rota.

Here's a thought, Jeremy...pay for services, not for lack of representationBy no means am I a Hammersmith expert, but I've never seen this sort of thing in the parts of the borough I've come to know. And when there are extenuating circumstances, all that needs to be done is to contact the council and it gets sorted expeditiously.Never once has that been the case in Hounslow.

The council was voted in but by a narrow margin. The allowance boost is probably a function of that with the leader needing to tie in his party colleagues as a single defection would lose him his majority.Well done to Cllrs Grigg and Emsley for getting the job done. However, presumably the council (or its contractor) does this work on a rolling schedule. That the path got so overgrown indicates that this schedule isn't regular enough to stop this happening but the only way to do this is to spend more money on the service.

On a nicer bit of news. Much to celebrate in Chiswick. Not just now but over the last 5 years since COVID, and all the good things that come to us are always from locals and are all free from council interference or council running. Funny that
