Are people 'bonkers' to queue for Frankie's?

Someone made this claim in another thread and I have to say initially I would have agreed with them. However, having sampled some of their products I am not so sure - the loaves are fantastic and around the same price as the supermarkets, the sandwiches are actually really good value and the sausauge rolls are delicious. While the pastries are very good, they are too pricey for me - I am not at the point where I am willing not to get any change out of a tenner for a coffee and croissant on Chiswick Back Common.

And there goes the old codger and stalker,  Rowe, unable to contain himself and  take every opportunity to attempt to insult me. All this because I didn’t agree with him about his assurances about the demented old slurring, stumbling Joe Biden. Assume they are of similar age. Never mind I’ll still queue to get first opportunity to rush to the front of a Metallica stadium concert in Madrid. And old Francis can queue on his zimmer frame for a coffee and slice of lemon drizzle cake wherever he pleases even if he is at the age where he has lost his sense of taste.

25 minutes feels like a long time to queue for a croissant! Personally, I’d be willing to give it 10-15 minutes tops.Everyone here who has sampled their wares has said they are well above average though.I wish Frankie’s luck for the future, there are still too many here today, gone tomorrow food places in Chiswick.

To be fair to Steve, standing up for 25 minutes can be a bit of a challenge when you get to his age hence his resistance to trying anything new.Frankie's is an interesting phenomenon. I thought the queues would dissapate after the first flush of social media promotion however it actually seems to be gathering momentum. I've never waited in the queue myself partially because my taste is so poorly developed I can't justify the price difference on coffee and pastries with Greggs. However, younger members of my household are trying to convert me and I have to admit everything they have brought me has been a bit special. Maybe you'll see me in the queue yet!

We might have a lot of coffee shops and bakeries in Chiswick, but a lot of them just aren't very good. I have been a regular at Frankie's since it opened, and can't praise them enough - fantastic homemade pastries and freshly baked bread, regular new items to try, and very friendly and helpful service. Whilst other local cafés serve up sad, cold croissants, Frankie's have lovely cheese and ham croissants with a sticky honey glaze. It's not cheap, but nor is it out of line with other local cafés. So no, people are not bonkers to queue - give them a try.

Still happens, Peter, and the same folk could have easily collected without the queuing. Let people do what they want, and don't judge.

I well recall the crowds of downtrodden Chiswick peasants queuing outside Mackens butchers as the Yuletide season approached to collect their annual distribution of bird meat!

It's not unusual.  In my recent travels I've also seen queues outside Layla Bakery in Notting Hill, Pophams Bakery in Islington and a bakery in Edinburgh I can't recall the name of.

it is something to do with their viral social media impact... I wouldn't queue that long - but I guess its a thing.
