Morrisons

Opening on the old art shop site near TG Station on Friday 8 May according to local flyers. Various opening offers including wine 2 for £12.  Flyer mentions meal deals so they must be selling snacks & sarnies.

And they block the vision of the many people trying to cross the road from TG station. Most traffic comes round that corner cautiously; some does not, particularly cyclists and other two-wheelers. We have been lucky so far that there have been no serious injuries or deaths; but luck does not last forever.

For some time I've been puzzled as to how Wheelers Nursery seems able to park its vans all over the place, including in front of the station and on the double yellow lines in front of St Michaels Church, thus obstructing E3 and 94 buses, and not be festooned with parking tickets or towed away. They also seem to enjoy occupying great chunks of our lovely wide CHR pavements with their overflowing stalls.

Morrisons local I predict will be a nightmare  for pedestrians and cyclists if they service moped delivery services collecting there.In addition to the entirely illegal parking / obstruction of bus stop by Dutch flower delivery articulated trucks.I was passenger on E3 some months ago It was unable to proceed towards high rd .

I eventually tracked down the list of pending licensing applications in Ealing - had to use AI to find. There is no application for a wine bar here - could be that there is a long term plan but there would also be a planning application for a change of use which there isn't either so, probably, the people on site are having you on. I hope I'm wrong because a neighbourhood wine bar would be an asset to the area.

The hairdressers was to become a wine bar some time ago.They were working on the frontage behind the shutters on the sunday. I asked the guys in the corner shop what happening at the old hairdressers,they replied its opening as a wine bar.Unless they are thinking of the original idea and dont actually know i take it they are correct in knowing as of now.

As predicted the Morrisons didn't open on schedule. I passed by this morning and there was some work going on inside but it didn't look like it was being done with the urgency that would indicate an opening was about to happen.Did anyone know the answer to Mark's earlier question about how you would check for a licensing application if you reside in Ealing borough?

Much as I would love there to be a wine bar or similar at this location, I can't honestly see this happening. That said, I will keep my fingers crossed...I am also looking forward to the Morrisons opening - I imagine that will be very handy for the Bedford Park side of Chiswick!

If you mean the former hairdressers on Southfield Road, that would be nice but a long shot. On the off chance I tried to look up the latest licensing notices for Ealing Council. There don't seem to have been any at all submitted so far this year - unless they have stopped updating the page. If they have, how is anyone supposed to find out about wine bars opening near where they live?

Work has started on the old hairdresser's next to plum duff. If you remember that years ago it was to become a wine bar. Well it's fitting is under way.

Went passed it yesterday and they are cracking on with the fitting out with work starting on the interior. They'll need to work flat out (including on a Bank Holiday) but they might just do it.

You are probably right as mini-supermarkets by tube stations usually place snacks and sandwiches more prominently than other stores.Whether it opens by 8 May is another question. A previous flyer promised March and at the moment someone seems to be using the unit as a free parking space!
