Correct, John. For my palate, the best pizza I've had in London.We wish them both well.As for Pizza Express, it would have to do with a more manufactured product and their estate. If they've been around longer I bet they have older and longer leases meaning lower rents. Companies like that often get a concession anyway seeing as they are thought to be an asset in a way a one-off independent is not.

Very sad, if I am not mistaken Chiswick was one of their first restaurant post Brixton Market, remember visiting first week they opened in Chiswick.

If you read the article on the front page the closure is still not officially confirmed with just one industry source apparently having details of the list, so there may still be a slight hope.Franco Manca was one of Chiswick better quality and better value restaurants. We had many enjoyable meals there over the last decade and it will be missed, if it has gone. One quirk was that I remember putting in an order for quite a large number of pizzas when we had lots of people road and noticing that the delivered cost was way above the takeaway price so I got into the habit of ordering for takeaway. Napoli on the Road is now the preferred option.

I like Franco Manca. Friendly team, decent pizza and very keenly priced. Hearing it'll shut up shop does make you wonder what Pizza Express' secret is, given it's been going since 1965. Hope the staff quickly find alternative employment.

It's a pity it is going to close and my son and I have had some good meals in there. However there is still the Franco Manca in Ealing (next to the town hall) and we popped in there for a quick pizza last week !
