Parents! Your feedback please on study skills

Dear parents of high school pupils or university students,I'd like your feedback on something, and I promise that this post is not intended as a sneaky plug. I am genuinely keen to know the thoughts of parents on this topic.When I was a student, I benefitted hugely by learning skills for accelerated learning, such as speed reading and memory improvement. These skills can help to increase motivation and concentration, typically resulting in better grades.Surely, all parents want their children to achieve the best possible grades at school, however I am not seeing interest in it from local parents. Why do you think this is?

I think most teaching in schools now tries to aim for genuine in-depth understanding rather than quick memory tricks 'to get better grades', so maybe 'the lack of interest from parents' is because they appreciate this, and realise how teaching today is different from how things were in their day.

Perhaps it’s because many parents in the area are sending their children to private schools so they don’t feel that additional study skills are necessary? And perhaps those whose children go to State Schools just can’t afford additional financial burden?
