Anyone else

See the article on the front page regarding Councillor Rehman parking his Lamborghini in a parking space for disabled people? I wonder what is going to happen to him as regards sanctions from the Labour Party.Will they even take this seriously?

The fact that he can have the fine revoked if he gives the money to charity speaks volumes too about how it's 'one rule for them and another for the rest of us'.Next time any of folks get a parking ticket,do you think the same facility will be granted to you?I for one would rather give the money to charity than to Hounslow or any other council.I am also a little sceptical about councils and their in house charities like mayors' funds etc.

I seem to remember that the '' Captain, leader, legend'' that was John Terry did exactly the same and was rightly criticized for it. Just because you can afford to with a flashy car doesn't mean you have to!

I see from the front page that he is not being fined as such,but donating the £160 liability to charity.That is hardly a good will gesture.He should have been fined,like everyone else and asked to make a donation as well.

I just hate this kind of display of lack of concern for others and the absolute entitlement shown,especially from a champagne socialist.Many people in Hounslow are scratching around for a living and are struggling to make ends meet.The least this bloke can do is pay for his own parking.This is just rubbing oou noses in it.I hope we are kept up to speed as to what happens about it.

I don’t care if someone buys a flashy car — it’s your money, do what you want. I wouldn’t buy a Lamroghini because it’s ugly, flashy, crass ... but fine.What does grate is a “caring, eco-friendly, recycle-or-be-fined £1,000” Labour councillor tearing around in a giant gas-guzzling Lamborghini and then dumping it in a disabled bay, twice. It screams hypocrisy and shows exactly what he thinks of the people he’s supposed to represent.Labour councillor ... that bit bears repeating.

Anyone driving a £200,000 car is likely to park it wherever they please. They’re not likely to be inconvenienced especially where disabled parking bays are undersubscribed, as they usually are in most parking facilities.

Drives a two hundred thousand pound car and collected twenty thousand pounds from the council in pay as a councillor. Nice work for some. Council tax up in April next year. Could also have a surcharge on top.

..and a Lamborghini of all cars hardly befits  a Labour councillor, unless they’re exemplifying ‘aspiration’! Maybe the environmentally friendly cargo bike was left at home that day!

The only possible point I can make in his defence is that the article was published at the weekend and that may have deprived him of adequate opportunity to provide an explanation.In the absence of this, this is an appalling look for a council which is levying massive fines on residents for de minimis littering offences. He shouldn't be allowed to be reselected but my understanding is that the current leader relies on his father's faction's support to retain his position. This means we can probably take it for granted that the pictures were taken and sent to the media by a rival group within Labour.
