Halfords Autocentre

Has anyone had their car serviced at this garage on Power Road (formerly Iversons). The independent garage that I have used has become progressively more and more expensive and Halfords appear to be offering reasonable value as well as easier parking.

I think it depends on the Halfords. I would take much notice of reviews that cover the entire country. Just because one Halfords is bad, doesn't mean another one is the same. I used to use the one in Acton which was excellent, but closed down as they sold the site. The manager moved to the Halfords in Hanwell, previously Iversons, and I now go there. He's excellent and runs a really good shop. I've compared their prices with local garages and they're comparable if not cheaper. Another benefit of Halfords is that you can do pay later for those who can't afford to pay upfront. They do very good 0% monthly payment schemes. Also they have a motoring club which gives discounts on services and purchases. That said, I haven't been to the Chiswick one, but would definitely recommend the Hanwell branch.

Not for servicing I go to main dealer for that but I use them for changing tyres. No problem on that score.The day I went they had re-opened after a refit ( few weeks ago). By the way if you book an appointment online there is a charge if you want it done quickly. No charge if its a few days in future.

I have always used the makers servicing. Sometimes they offer cheaper rates for older models in order to keep their clients. I even got a good deal on tyres at the main dealer which really surprised me.

I actually moderate one of the largest Ford user communities on the internet. While not policy there is distinct avoid at all costs message about Halfords when it comes to servicing.Not only are they less than competitive or many items but the quality of work is reported as leaving a lot to be desired.

For Halfords Autocentres in general their Trustpilot rating is 2.7 out of 5 (134,904 ratings)while on reviews.io its 1.9 out of 5 (834 ratings) Googling "halfords autocentre reviews" can be very revealing.With all review sites I usually start with the lowest ratings to check whether people are just being unreasonable.While with the top ratings as its surprising how many start "it was so easy to use the website " rather than what they were actually paying for.As to my own experience with Halfords, when buying a replacement number plate from the branch around the corner on CHR, they actually managed to print the wrong number at their first attempt.Luckily I'd peeled off the protective paper while leaving the shop.And what's more apparently not all Halford's branches offer this "specialist service"./    bb
