You could not make it up

This man, who was not only mistakenly released from prison and not sent to a detention centre. But he is now showing up in a video on social media walking around Chelmsford city centre in his prison tracksuit and a clear plastic bag, talking to friends. He then boarded at 12.47 pm a train bound for London.   They may have caught him if they had swiftly notified the media of the mistake. But it was about 6.30pm the media were notified, and by that time, he was in London, found out and went on the run. Q: When did they notice the mistake Utter madness

It should never have been tried to emulate the US system.  Far too high a percentage of their population are in prison and the recidivism rate is so very high there.  What our Govt decided to do was just shut people away with no meaningful occupation for hours and hours whilst taking away the education and training and the care to reform those who found themselves there and make sure they have somewhere to go and some work to do when they leave instead of just putting them out on the streets.Ministry of Justice data shows that 57% of adult prisoners have literacy levels below those expected of an 11 year old.

Given who he was and the nature of his conviction, I'm not sure he was in the mix with others and in line with others to be released, which makes the mix-up a complete failure, away from staffing issues. Q: How can all staff not know who he is and still send him away multiple times from the front desk and back outside, eventually telling him where the train station is? I seriously don't get it given who he is

The neoliberal privatisation of services to save money meant that a great many older and experienced staff were lost and the result was a lot of fragmentation of services.  Although parts were renationalised because it wasn't working there has still been chronic understaffing and overcrowding.It seems this guy was himself expecting to be deported and not put out on the  street!

The intention wasn't to release him but to transfer him somewhere else secure, so not that surprising that he was wearing a prison track suit.

If immigration and other events continue at the same dismal rate for Starmer his position at the top could be in peril.Lucy Powell, his newly elected deputy is still in high dudgeon with him for his sacking her for her angry "old chestnut" response to a Tory for bringing up the grooming gangs debate.It is reported Lucy Powell is chummy with Andy Burnham who is harbouring a shot as leader of the Labour party.The new liaison between the PM and his new Deputy could turn out to be very interesting if things worsen for Labour and the public turns on them.

Well, it's just a light grey tracksuit top and bottoms that could have any well-known sports brand type logo on. The plastic clear bin liner type bag showing all your possessions is a more likely idea to some that the person has come out of prison. Staying in Chelmsford was clearly not a good idea for him over time. Neither not an indication to many people. But it's the timeline that is the question. The mistake being noticed and the media and photo being put out is the question. Surely hours later, someone on the train must have seen him after the photo was put out. The amount of CCTV if getting off in central London is strange. You can littery follow someone around for hrs. Unlike the guy who escaped from Wandsworth and used the Thames and canal paths. The video of him in Chelsford was only noticed when the person using her phone to film him and others was flagged up by her hrs later when his picture came up in the media, and she looked back at the footage and identified him. Still on the run, I believe. Surely he did not get off in central London.CCTV would have started inside and outside the train station, and every street for miles and miles. I don't know, all very strange given the amount of CCTV if getting off in central London.
