Bernard, see the photo provided which shows the roundabout area closed off. Perhaps accident investigators requested a wider search area after you passed the scene.I don't think that the roundabout will be removed because it would slow the progress of buses and as a cyclist, the right turn priority travelling west helps getting through queueing traffic. I don't like going through the park, which is full of extra risks and it requires you to emerge onto a blind corner from which a bus might be coming. I observed a child shoot out into the tunnel earlier this week who, when ticked off by his parent, said no cars were allowed there. He was firmly reminded of the risk. You can remove the extra risk of turning right at the roundabout by assuming every driver coming the other way doesn't know the Highway Code.
