Another incident at Fishers Lane South Parade junction

Not sure what happened here but it looks like there has been another collision at the roundabout near the underpass. This picture was taken yesterday evening at around 6pm A cyclist was badly hurt at this spot a few months back. In my experience the principal risk is that a lot of drivers don't know that people turning right into Fishers Lane, including cyclists, have priority.

Bernard, see the photo provided which shows the roundabout area closed off. Perhaps accident investigators requested a wider search area after you passed the scene.I don't think that the roundabout will be removed because it would slow the progress of buses and as a cyclist, the right turn priority travelling west helps getting through queueing traffic. I don't like going through the park, which is full of extra risks and it requires you to emerge onto a blind corner from which a bus might be coming. I observed a child shoot out into the tunnel earlier this week who, when ticked off by his parent, said no cars were allowed there. He was firmly reminded of the risk. You can remove the extra risk of turning right at the roundabout by assuming every driver coming the other way doesn't know the Highway Code.

It was the Esmond Road/ South Parade junction that was cordoned off yesterday afternoon, Fishers Lane was open as normal.

Remove the redundant mini roundabout and replace it with a ‘give way’ T-junction, and change the give way markings on the south side to reflect the ‘new’ arrangements in Fisher Lane. In my cycling days, roundabouts were regarded as the most dangerous form of road junction.

I always cycle through the park to avoid South Parade, it's way too dangerous for cyclists

Well, it's worse if you're exiting Fisher's Lane and turning right into South Parade, as while you're looking to make sure it's clear on your right to move out, you're having to then look and hope traffic coming from your left is stopping and giving way. And it's partly a blind spot until you have got to the middle for you to see, and traffic to see you on your left.
