Good Decision

The right decision made by Parliament today as regards assisted dying. No bill is perfect and I completely understand those who have concerns but to force people to suffer unnecessarily is simply wrong.

I just hope that it doesn't corrupt from being a right into an expectation or a duty to serve the needs of others.

David, such systems would neutralise one side in a binary call which would be unfair.Lengthy debates have now taken place in the commons, featuring both the Right to die and Assisted dying bills.Further debates are to come, firstly in the Lords chambers, where peers will be given free votes before forwarding any amendments back to the commons where our elected politicians will have the opportunity to think again before casting their definitive votes.The verdict on the Assisted dyeing bill is not yet over.

This is such a serious matter that I am slightly uncomfortable with the narrowness of the majority 314/291, and I appreciate that we don't have a system where we could insist on, say, a minimum of 2/3 to 1/3 for certain bills.
